Sasha Boychouk grew up in Ukraine and was exposed to a rich diversity of eastern European ethnic music. The decision to become a professional musician brought him to the renowned St. Petersburg Conservatory and, after graduating, he got a position with the St. Petersburg TV/Radio Orchestra and later became the leader of the Moscow Saxophone Quintet. On a trip to Canada in 1991, he decided to make the country his home and has subsequently played with some of the world’s greatest jazz musicians, including Clark Terry, Tito Puente, Pat Metheny, Diane Schuur, and Arturo Sandoval.
